Summer Camp: Counselor in Training (CIT)

Become a ScienceWorks Counselor-in-Training!

ScienceWorks is excited to introduce the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program for summer 2025! Designed for youth ages 13 - 15, this program (Monday – Friday, 10 AM to 2 PM) offers a hands-on opportunity to develop leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while working alongside our summer camp instructors.

CITs will help with crafts, games, and activities, gaining real-world experience by working directly with campers under the guidance of ScienceWorks staff. Through training and mentorship, participants will learn engagement strategies, decision-making, and safety procedures—essential skills for any future leader. Senior staff will provide coaching and feedback, ensuring each CIT is empowered to grow and succeed.

As a counselor in training, you will:

• Develop leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while assisting camp instructors with activities, crafts, and games
• Receive hands-on training and mentorship from senior staff in both science and education
• Gain real-world experience and confidence

All CITs are required to follow the CIT Behavior Policy. CIT's will review the policy and sign their copy on the first day of each week. 

ScienceWorks camps are led by experienced instructors who nurture curiosity while supporting diverse learning styles, including ADHD and neurodivergence. We provide a welcoming environment where every camper can thrive while having fun.
