Summary

Our art classes offer a world of vivid colors, creative techniques, and limitless possibilities. Students will learn the basics of several studio disciplines, conceptual art, and curatorial installation!
No prior art experience necessary! Ages 13-18. Registration Required!

Description

This is a limited capacity workshop, registration is required. Please note: if the workshop has reached capacity you will be added to a waiting list. If a spot becomes available, we will contact you before moving you from the waitlist and charging you for the class.

Wednesdays, 3-5pm.

Each class is different; you may sign up for as many or as few as you like. 

 

Schedule:
April 24:
Nature Study - Learn the foundations of Visual Art through the study of nature. After a brief introduction to the practice, students will spend time studying nature in relation to the basics of visual art: light, color, composition, form, and spatial relationships. 


May 1: Print Making with Fiber - Fun, curious, colorful fiber art! After a brief introduction to the practice, students explore the foundations of printmaking with everyday found objects on paper and textile fibers.


May 8: Wire Sculptures - Braid it, twist it, tie it, wrap it, wind it, bind it, weave it!! Wire sculpture and jewelry are ancient art forms. After a brief introduction to the practice, students learn the building basic elements of sculptural practice by forming figurative and linear art with a variety of metal wire and prompts. 


May 15: Collage Paper Sculptures - Collage art in 3-D ! Taking collage art to another dimension. Students will build cardboard and paper sculptures with added elements of collage and color. 


May 22: Art Scavenger Hunt - Learn the foundations of creating art based on creative guidelines and topics. Students will choose from a list of prompts and search for ideas throughout the museum on the subject(s) they choose. After finding their inspiration, they will return to create a piece of art from the experience about their chosen prompt and present it to the group. 


May 29: Free Little Art Gallery - Make your own little art gallery. Learn the foundations of curating, lighting, and building a narrative for your exhibition. Students will build miniature art galleries with miniature art objects that they create and install for viewers to enjoy.
